I was first introduced to Eddie the Yeti’s art at the Grand Opening event for the Adventurer’s Quarter game store in Arvada, Colorado. Eddie will be donating several pieces of art for the Thanksgaming charity event on November 2nd, 2013. This week we talk to Eddie the Yeti about his art.   Who are you and what do you do? I am the “y3t1” officially. Many friends call me Eddie the y3t1 or Eddie the Yeti. I draw and paint some pretty chaotic art. I also am an information security consultant on the side. I am a staff member at the DefCon conference in Las Vegas each year and sell a lot of art for charity there I also do a lot of art for the Rock industry. I have done 17 album covers and a lot of personal work for Dan Spitz from ‘Anthrax’ and Doug Huffman from ‘Boston’. My art has also been featured on the History Channel. Where did the moniker, Eddie the Yeti, come from? My kids actually. I climb a lot mountains (climbed all the 14ers before it was the cool thing to do). How did you start adding food to your art palette? I am an untrained artist. I do not know the right way to paint or draw so one day I was feeling particularly chaotic and went to the refrigerator for some ‘paint’ and it took off from there. I ended up experimenting with many food stuffs for color and tint. I found out that in addition to their color properties several respond to heat in odd and wonderful ways to I incorporate that in many pieces as well. I commonly use Ink, Wine, Soy Sauce, Lime Juice, Tea, Coffee, Hot Sauce, Cherry Juice, POM Juice, Blueberry Juice, Mustard, and a lot of other food. What’s your background? In art? Almost none. I had gentleman try to help me do an oil painting back when I was a kid. I did not do well in the one art class I had in high school. I thrive on chaos in my art and being heavily directed to work in a certain style is painful for me. What art do you most identify with? I am a...
